Here is my drama recommendation list. There is quite a bit of variety in the genres; from romantic comedy to suspense to fluff and fun dramas.
Hopefully you might end up liking them as much as I did.^^
Title: 49 Days
Genre: Fantasy, romance
Year: 2011
Synopsis: Shin Ji Hyun was enjoying absolute bliss as she was about to marry her fiancé, Kang Min Ho, but her perfect life is shattered when she gets into a car accident that leaves her in a coma. She is given a second chance at life by a reaper, but it comes with a condition: she has to find three people outside of her family who would cry genuine tears for her. In order to do this, she borrows the body of Yi Kyung, a part-time employee at a convenience store for 49 days.
DL Thoughts: It’s one of those great dramas that comes every once in a while. You will laugh and cry over this drama. Because of 49 Days, I was happy…. and sad.

Title: Bad Guy
Genre: Thriller, mystery, melodrama
Year: 2010
Synopsis: Shim Gun Wook plots revenge against the Haeshin Group, a large corporation to whom Hong Tae Sung is the heir.
DL Thoughts: The best thing about this drama is the excellent acting by Kim Nam Gil and Kim Jae Wook. They literally blew my mind with their acting. I just had to say that. Now the overall story is very engaging, I was really hook, perfect for those that love a good thriller and suspense drama. Another thing that was really interesting to watch was the love story between the cast.

Title: Beethoven Virus
Genre: Romance, comedy, drama
Year: 2008
Synopsis: Kang Gun Woo is a world renowned orchestra maestro who is a perfectionist in his work. He is not an easy person to work with and is fear by all his players. By chance, he comes across Du Ru Mi, a violinist, and a young cop who has the same name as his and discovers that even without formal training, the young Kang is a music genius. The three soon get tangled in a love triangle.
DL Thoughts: This drama is different from what I normally watch. If u like underdogs story, this might fit your bill. Conductor is an interesting character, I have said before I really like characters that are more then your typical characters.

Title: Boys Before Flowers Series
Genre: Romance, Comedy
Year: 2009
Synopsis: Jan Di is an average girl whose family owns a dry cleaning store located near the luxurious and well known Shin Hwa College.
Jan Di tries to avoid confrontation with the F4 at all cost because she knows what happens to those that stand against them. However, when Jan Di’s friend, Oh Min Ji, accidentally gets ice cream on the leader of the F4’s shoes, she’s forced to declare war on the leader of the F4, Goo Joon Pyo.
What will happen though, when she falls in love with someone from the F4 and Goo Joon Pyo start feeling something for her too? Will the love triangle disrupt F4 and change their lives forever?
DL Thoughts: I have seen the Japanese ver first, so when I heard about korean ver I was excited. One of the things that I like about the korean ver. is the backstory on the supporting cast. I really enjoy the soeulmate storyline. If you are fan of Hana Yori Dango then you might end up liking this one too.

Title: City Hall
Genre: Romance, Comedy
Year: 2009
Synopsis: City Hall is a drama that deals with politics in a romantic comedy genre. It’s about the happenings between a young woman mayor and an elite bureaucrat. Jo Gook is an exceedingly smart government official. He passed the Higher Civil Service quickly, and basically is the perfect guy. But being a deputy mayor is not enough for him. He lives with the dream of becoming South Korea’s President.
He should have easily gone straight to the top, but due to an unexpected incident, he gets dispatched as a deputy mayor for a provincial small town, Inju City, where Shin Mi Rae is working. Shin Mi Rae is a low-ranking secretary in Inju, but she works her way up in becoming the youngest City Mayor. As their paths meet, they have to deal with each other’s personal and social differences. But despite their constant bickering, will they end up in each other’s arms?
DL Thoughts: This drama is witty and funny. I really got invest in the characters’ lives and what they were going thru… every joy and pain. The acting is so wonderful in this story. One of their best works in my opinion. Don’t let the political setting turn you away, this drama will sweep you off your feet.

Title: City Hunter
Genre: Action, Suspense, Romance
Year: 2011
Synopsis: The story takes place in Seoul, 2011. Lee Yoon Sung is a talented MIT-graduate who works on the international communications team in the Blue House. He plans revenge on five politicians who caused his father’s death with his surrogate father Lee Jin Pyo and eventually becomes a “City Hunter.”
DL Thoughts: City Hunter is one of those dramas that has everything. Great plot, great acting, and loads of chemistry. It had me on the edge of my seat every single episode not one dull moment.

Title: Coffee House
Genre: Comedy, Romance
Year: 2010
Synopsis: Lee Jin Soo made it big after writing several thriller novels and establishing himself as a talented novelist. He works for Seo Eun Young, the owner of the biggest publishing company in Korea, and has a long-time friendship with her. Jin Soo has lots of fans, especially female ones, and he seems to be the perfect match for any woman… but what no one knows is that he is actually a bit weird and sarcastic, has lots of strange habits, and holds a dark secret.
The one who has to cope with him and his habits is his secretary, Kang Seung Yeon, who begged him for this job to become a pro instead of the below-average girl that she really is. On top of that, there is also the return of Han Ji Won, Eun Young’s ex-fiance, whom she despises. Ji Won tries to win Eun Young back, but she has her eyes set on Jin Soo.
DL Thoughts: Kang Ji Hwan is literally what makes this drama great. You going to keep guessing what he does and who he ends up with till the very end. To me, quirky characters like his are the best.

Title: Coffee Prince

Synopsis: The life of Go Eun Chan is not easy; she works many jobs to pay off debts and even gave up her feminine image. Choi Han Kyul is the heir of a big food company, but his grandmother wants him to settle down, so she arranged many dates for him. After Eun Chan bumped into Han Kyul and was mistaken for a boy, Han Kyul decided to hire Eun Chan to be his gay lover in order to avoid the arranged dates.
Desperately in need of money, Eun Chan had no choice but to accept. Han Kyul’s grandmother also made Han Kyul in charge of a filthy coffee shop in danger of being bankrupt. Eun Chan begged to work at the coffee shop, and not long after, feelings start to spark, except, how would Han Kyul accept his “homosexuality”?
DL Thoughts: The main leads are just amazing together. It just wow. Truly enjoy this drama till the very end. The romance, the support characters, so great. This is a REALLY MUST SEE DRAMA!!!

Title: Delightful Girl, Choon Hyang
Genre: Comedy, Romance, Drama

Synopsis: The story begins when Lee Mong-ryong is transferred from Seoul to a high school in Namwon, North Jeolla Province. Chun-hyang does her best to help Mong-ryong, her first love and the son of the Namwon Police Station chief, to enter a prestigious university. However, after meeting with Mong-ryong’s first love, Chae-rin, Mong-ryong’s love toward Chun-hyang is shattered, although Chun-hyang’s love remains unwavering.
One day, Byeon Hak-do, CEO of a famous entertainment company, appears in her life. He exudes confidence that he can make any woman fall for him. But as Chun-hyang shows no interest in him, his self-esteem is damaged profoundly. Byeon Hak-do is determined to make her love him.
DL Thoughts: It’s no secret that I am fan of hong sisters dramas. Bias aside, it is a great drama to watch. The characters are great. The drama is funny and it does have a lot drama so if u don’t like that then look somewhere else BUT before u go, I will tell you that in the end its worth it. The ending was sweet.

Title: Dream High

Synopsis: Dream High tells the story of six students at Kirin Art High School who work to achieve their dreams of becoming music stars in the Korean music industry.
DL Thoughts: Dream High is great. I love the plot, the characters, everything. What I really love about dream high beside the great performances, is the characters.
You get to see how they change and become a better person. It’s the kind of drama that stays in your heart.

Title: Flower Boy Ramyun Shop
Genre: Romance, Comedy
Year: 2011
Synopsis: Yang Eun Bi (Lee Chung Ah) is a University student preparing for her civil service exam with the dream of being a high school teacher. She accidentally encounters Cha Chi Soo (Jung Il Woo), an arrogant son of the biggest food conglomerate in Korea. Both of them end up working at a ramen shop run by the lazy Choi Kang Hyuk (Lee Ki Woo).
DL Thoughts: Want to see a fun drama, then watch this one. They took a similar plot and give it a new favor… chicken ramen flavor.^^; Anyhow this is not only just fun to watch but the characters are love. I really like their friendship and the growth they go thru.

Title: Full House

Synopsis: Han Ji Eun is a naive writer who got swindled out of everything she owned including her house by her best friends. Stranded in China, She managed to borrow money from an actor Lee Young Jae to return to Korea. On her return, she found out that her house was bought by Lee Young Jae.
In an attempt to get her possessions back, she entered in a contract marriage with Young Jae for one year. In spite of losing all, Ji Eun manages to be cheerful and takes things in strike and the business relationship between the two becomes personal as they start to rely and care for each other. Based on a popular manhwa of the same title.
DL Thoughts: In my opinion this is Rain best drama. The overall drama is enjoyable. The leads got a great chemistry together. After watching this drama, u gonna looking around ur house and have this urge to clean…. I am just saying…. maybe it just me who felt like that. U should give this classic drama a try.

Title: Goong

Synopsis: Goong is a story about young love in face of tradition, politics, and intrigue. In the imaginary world, modern-day Korea is a constitutional monarchy and the Royal Family lives in a grand Palace, the Goong.
Will love prevail all in a world of political pressures and martial hardships? Or will being in the spotlight of the public be too much for the young newlyweds to endure?
DL Thoughts: Goong is going to make you laugh, cry, go aww, squeal, get angry, then make you love it in the end. I always say that if a drama can make feel a lot of emotions then the drama is doing a job of getting u invested in it. Give it twirl, it might just be your new favorite drama.

Title: IRIS

Year: 2009
Synopsis: Kim Hyun Joon and Jin Sa Woo are best friends who were brought into a top secret organization known as NSS by analyst Choi Seung Hee and Park Sang Hyun. Hyun Joon and Sa Woo both fall in love with Seung Hee when she first profiles them. Their lives are changed forever when Hyun Joon is given a solo mission in Hungary. Hyun Joon later tries to find out who set him up and to figure out what IRIS is and wants.
DL Thoughts: It’s exciting drama with a lot of action. Korea really outdid themselves in this drama. Lots of twist and turns, good love story (ahsnfjksdnk candy kiss) and then Vick is scary and…. anymore I will probably spoil it. Just go and watch for yourself.

Title: My Girl

Gong Chan’s friend, Jung Woo falls for Yoo Rin while Gong Chan’s ex-girlfriend, Seo Hyun, a pro tennis player, tries to win him back. Will the two ever tell each other how they feel? Will Gong Chan ever find his real cousin?
DL Thoughts: One of my fav. romantic comedy dramas. The main couple are so cute. All the silly things she makes him believe then teasing him for it. Ah good memories. Check it out!

Title: My Girlfriend is Gumiho

Year: 2010
Synopsis: On one day after Cha Dae Woong ran away from his grandfather, he accidently freed a nine-tailed fox who was closed in a painting for about 500 years. He didn’t realize what he has done, until the Gumiho (nine-tailed fox),who took the form of a beautiful woman, appeared in front of him. Dae Woong was really frightened that he ran away from her and fell on the riverbank.Since he was severely injured, Gumiho came to save him and gave him her most precious bead to share with him the mystic fox’ strength, as she owes him her freedom.
Gumiho then asked him if he can help her become human and how to act like one. In return, she allowed him to use her bead for him to shoot for his dream action movie despite his body’s severe condition. As time goes by, their mutual relationship grew deeper as they start to fall for each other.
DL Thoughts: Another great romantic comedy drama. I love this couple to bits. They are so cute. The overall plot is good. Hong Sisters took classic tale and made it a fun drama to watch.

Title: My Name is Kim Sam Soon

Synopsis: Kim Sam Soon is a baker who has a talent in making pastries and cakes. On Christmas Eve, she caught her boyfriend, Min Hyun Woo, cheating on her and breaks up on the same night. On that same night, she accidentally went into the men’s restroom and met Hyun Jin Hun, a somewhat callous fellow but sometimes considerate guy. By sheer coincidence, Jin Hun needs a baker for his restaurant Bon Appetit and Sam Soon is unemployed.
Sam Soon is hired as the restaurant’s chief baker and the two fights like cat and dog. Nevertheless, they started to have feeling for each other and Sam Soon agreed to post as Jin Hun’s girlfriend so his mother would leave him alone. Things got complicated when Jin Hun’s ex-girlfriend Yoo Hee Jin came back from the States intending to win him back.
DL Thoughts: My first kdrama. I am really happy that I found this gem of a drama. The characters and plot are great. I love female lead like there was lines in the drama about love that hits u in the heart and u feel her cause u been there before. I recommend it every single romance lovers out there, come and fill ur heart with this love story.

DL Thoughts: One great thing about this drama, is the couple cuteness. It’s light and fun drama. Their chemistry is purely amazing. So if u are looking for a cute drama that has a lot cute drama couple moments. Look no further.

Synopsis: “Pasta” covers the dreams and success of a young woman who aspires to become an elite chef at La Sfera restaurant.
Seo Yoo Kyung started her career as a kitchen assistant at La Sfera restaurant. She eventually works her way up to become a chef.
Choi Hyun Wook is the top chef at La Sfera restaurant. He studied the culinary arts in Italy and started out as a chef assistant at a hotel in Sicily. Hyun Wook eventually worked his way up to become the most widely recognized Italian chef in Korea.
DL Thoughts: The overall plot may have been simple but I love the characters esp. Chef. He is lovable. The couple’s chemistry is literally bouncing off each other…. so great together. I have fun watching this drama so maybe u will too.

Title: Personal Taste
Genre: Romance, Comedy
Year: 2010
Synopsis: Jeon Jin Ho is a straight guy who pretends to be gay in order to become Park Kae In’s roommate. His hobbies include organization and ironing, and he’s known for his stoic poker face. He’s a stickler for cleanliness, but he also has a talent for figuring out a women’s feelings.
Kae In is very trusting even though she has a habit of being betrayed. However that doesn’t stop her from giving people the benefit of doubt and Jin Ho is no different. How will Kae In react when she finds out that her gay roommate is not actually gay at all and that he has fallen for her?
DL Thoughts: The plot is what drew me to this drama. A straight guy pretending to be gay oh the fun. It does deliver on the funny moments but I gotta say the support characters (aka the best friends of each main lead (no that fake best friend the other one with the kid) also help make this drama memorable.

Title: Protect the Boss
Genre: Romance, Comedy
Year: 2011
Synopsis: No Eun Seol finally gets a job as a professional secretary at a large conglomerate after struggling with unemployment, only to fall in love with her boss, Cha Ji Heon, the immature youngest son of a chaebol family.
DL Thoughts: This drama is different to most kdramas in that, the heroine is not like the typical female lead and the hero is not the king of jerks which is very refreshing. The whole plot is refreshing… like a different spin on the typical “chaebol” story. The “fights” between the cousins are funny to watch. The characters are lovable and the acting is great. The chemistry of the cast is super. I could go on but then I will spoil it for u.

Title: Queen In Hyun’s Man

Year: 2012
Synopsis: Park Boong Do is a scholar who had supported the reinstatement of Queen In Hyun when Jang heebin’s schemes resulted in her being deposed and replaced as King Sukjong’s queen consort. He travels 300 years into the future of modern Seoul and meets Choi Hee Jin, a no-name actress who is expecting a career renaissance through her role as Queen In Hyun in a TV drama.
DL Thoughts: This drama is as close to perfection as we can get. It was done so beautifully that there is nothing to complain about. I was hook from the beginning till the end. No draggy or filler episodes. I felt that the story is engaging, the characters are written well even the villains are done well, and the main couple is just love… pure love.

Title: Rooftop Prince

Year: 2012
Synopsis: A prince from the Joseon era, Lee Gak, is catapulted 300 years forward into the future in Seoul 2012 with his entourage, which includes Song Man Bo, Do Chi San and Woo Young Sul, when he tries to investigate the suspicious circumstances which surround the death of the girl he loved. In the present, he finds a girl who looks exactly like his beloved crown princess…
DL Thoughts: By the first episode, I was hook. By the second, I was laughing so hard that I almost burst a rib. Its not only funny but engaging too. The characters are super adorable, I just wanna adopt them. Also the chemistry between the lead couple is so good that I really want to them to get together in real life. Some episodes really had me at the edgy of my seat, and some had me crying. Overall, great acting from the cast.

Title: Secret Garden
Genre: Romance, Comedy, Fantasy, Melodrama
Year: 2010
Synopsis: The drama tells the story of Kim Joo Won, an arrogant and eccentric CEO who maintains the image of seeming perfection, and Gil Ra Im, a poor and humble stuntwoman whose beauty and body are the object of envy amongst top actresses. Their accidental meeting, when Joo Won mistakes Ra Im for actress Park Chae Rin, marks the beginning of a tense, bickering relationship, through which Joo Won tries to hide a growing attraction to Ra Im that both confuses and disturbs him. To complicate matters further, a strange sequence of events results in them swapping bodies.
DL Thoughts: Secret Garden is so much love. The plot, the characters, the chemistry, so great. You gonna laugh, cry, pull your hair out, swear, and aww over this drama. It’s that damn good.
I would also recommend watching all the parody that was made of this drama esp. Big Bang version.

Title: Shining Inheritance

Synopsis: Go Eun Sung’s life is similar to Cinderella’s. After her father died, her step-mother, Baek Sung Hee, took away all of her assets and her younger brother, Eun Woo, suddenly disappears without a trace. Despite this, Eun Sung preservers and works really hard to fulfill her dreams. When the CEO of a food company, Jang Sook Ja, suffers amnesia and can’t remember who she is Eun Sung takes her in.
However, Eun Sung does not know that she is the grandmother of Sun Woo Hwan, the man who she switched bags with at the airport. How will their constant bickering lead them to realize that they care more about each other than they let on?
DL Thoughts: It starts off slow but once u get into the meat of things, the characters will suck u in. Some u want to see happy and others….. let just say that if I was in that drama, I might beat somebody up. Anywho, the story is great so if give it a try.^^

Title: Shut Up! Flower Boy Band
Genre: Youth, Romance, Drama
Year: 2012
Synopsis: This is a story about a high school rock band and how they deal with friendship, love and their passion for music.
DL Thoughts: It’s one of those coming of age dramas that gets me every time. You are going to love their friendship, you gonna cry during the sad moments, and laugh over their dork moments. You are going to love them very much and miss them like crazy once the drama is over. The story is well written, not once did I feel it drag. It stay true to itself and it left me very satisfied.

Title: Sungkyunkwan Scandal
Genre: Period, Romance, Comedy
Year: 2010
Synopsis: Set in Sungkyunkwan University in the late Joseon era during the reign of King Jeongjo, revolving around the exploits and love stories of four youths.
When her younger brother’s illness worsens and their family is in danger of being evicted from their house for lack of money, Kim Yoon Hee enters the school under his name, disguised as a boy in her desperation to support him.
There, she becomes friends with the intelligent and upright Lee Sun Joon, the playboy Goo Yong Ha and rebellious Moon Jae Shin.
DL Thoughts: Do not let the period genre pull you away from this drama. It’s a good drama with a boys before flower friendship vibe. The characters is what make this drama good in my book. Also the chemistry between main leads are great. Love triangle is good too.
Also for those that like bromance, there’s plenty of that in this drama enough to get voted as a drama couple in a korean drama award show. I kid u not.

Title: The Greatest Love/Best Love
Genre: Romance, Comedy
Year: 2011
Synopsis: Ae Jung was once the most popular member of girl band The National Treasure Girls. However 10 years ago the band broke up and she received most of the blame. Despite her warm personality her career has suffered ever since and she now spends her time fighting for air time on variety shows. Dokko Jin is a top movie star at the height of his career. The two meet and become involved in each other’s careers.
Yoon Pil Joo is a doctor of oriental medicine who has no interest in the entertainment industry but agrees to make a dating show. Dokko Jin helps get Ae Jung a role on a new reality show called Couple Making. Pil Joo is the bachelor being set up on Couple Making. Both men fall for Ae Jung both off and on the screen.
DL Thoughts: This drama is so good. It was funny and romantic and so many things. The main guy is so wacky but u going to love him. Truly hong sisters did not disappoint with this rom-com. U should feel honored that I recommended this drama (in Dokko character lol)

Title: The Moon That Embraces The Sun

Synopsis: The story of the secret love between Lee Hwon, a fictional king of Joseon, and Wol, a female shaman. Wol was born as Heo Yeon Woo, the daughter of a noble family who won the love of the crown prince, Hwon. Her enemies, jealous of her family’s position in court, schemed against her and wrestled away her rightful place as crown princess and nearly takes her life. Years later, an embittered Hwon meets Wol, now a female shaman who has no recollection of her past.
DL Thoughts: This drama had me at the first episode. I fell in love with children cast; swept away by their puppy love and great acting. When they left, they took my heart with them but no worries, Kim Soo Hyun did such excellent job playing Hwon that I didn’t feel too sad parting with Yeo Jin Goo.
This drama made laugh and cry a lot. Oh how my heartache for main couple. When Hwon cry, I cry. In the end, all I got say is that this drama became a nation drama for reason so perhaps u should check it out and see what got korea and international drama fans in a frenzy.

DL Thoughts: I can’t even describe how I feel about this drama. This drama had me from the beginning. I was totally hooked. I laugh, I cry, I curse, I hope, I cry again. This drama invoke a lot of emotions from me. I have a lot love for the cast, they have turn me into their fans. I have watch couple of period dramas but this drama really did it for me, from now on I won’t shy away from period dramas.

Synopsis: The management company of the idol group A.N.JELL insisted on adding a new singer to the group as the lead vocal, Tae Kyung’s voice was hurting. However,the new member, Mi Nam, had to go to the States to repair a botched eye job just before signing the contract.
His agent came up with the idea of having his twin sister, Mi Nyu,to stand in for him and pretend that she was her brother. The two of them grew up in an orphanage and Mi Nyu, who was all set to become a nun, agreed to this charade as she didn’t want to spoil her brother’s chance of fame which would make it easier to look for their mother.
DL Thoughts: This drama is funny, and cute with good romance. I love the characters even like nation fairy towards the end. I watch this drama like three times so far, and I have yet to get sick of it.

Title: Anego

Synopsis: Naoko Noda, who works in a trading company, is called “anego” by her younger co-workers. What is “anego”? It means “older sister,” but in this case it is given as a nickname to Naoko because she is like a big sister to her coworkers, who depend on her to give them advice about everything. This drama, depicts realistically how Naoko lives her everyday life, including her love life, the problems she faces, and her uneasiness about the future.
DL Thoughts: The good thing about Anego is that you could relate to the main female lead. The love story between Ryoko and Jin is cute. There is also a special to the drama so u must check that out since it continues their love story.

Title: Bloody Monday

Synopsis: After a biological terrorist attack kills off the population of a Russian town; Japan’s Public Safety Special Third unit, code name THIRD-i, believes that the terrorist organization responsible plans to unleash the same virus known as Bloody X into Tokyo. Subsequently, THIRD-i recruits the help of genius hacker Takagi Fujimaru to find out what happened in the Russia.
However, as Fujimaru becomes involved, he soon finds out that he is in over his head and that the terrorist groups influence reaches not only his school but even the police. Fujimaru must now rely on his skill as a hacker to unravel the organizations sinister plot and find out the truth behind “Bloody Monday.”
DL Thoughts: A lot tense and omg moments. I couldn’t stop watching it srsly, like I would take my precious lunch hour to watch this drama. I start liking suspense dramas more. I felt like I could be hacker XD There is season 2. I also recommend you watch it as well.

Title: Gokusen

Synopsis: The story of a young, idealistic teacher who enters Shirokin Gakuen with hopes of making a difference in the students’ lives. However, Yamaguchi Kumiko is in for a rude awakening when she finds that she will be the homeroom teacher of 3-D, the hardest class to maintain in the school.
DL Thoughts: What kind of drama fan are u if u have yet to watch this drama? Where have u been living? Under a rock all these years?
Jokes aside, this drama is like one of the best school dramas in my opinion. Though the setup is the same in season 2 and season 3, I still enjoy the series.
The characters have heart and you start wishing u had a teacher like Yankumi. Also there is a special and a movie, u should check it out too.^^

Title: Hanazakari no Kimitachi e aka Hana Kimi

Synopsis: Based on a popular comic, this hilarious comedy follows the chaos, troubles and friendship at a boys’ boarding school after a girl-disguising-a-boy joins. Ashiya Mizuki has just come back to Japan from California where she was raised.
She fell in love with Sano Izumi, a hopeful high jump hero, who has quit after an accident. As she wants him to go back to the sport once again, she enters the same high school as a boy! With a short hair, flattened chest and lowered voice, she starts sharing the same room with Sano.
DL Thoughts: Ah the things I can say about hana kimi. This drama is just wacky but so much fun. The characters are just love, you going to love them and miss them dearly after you finish watching this drama. The romance is good, you really get invested in the love triangle. I have yet to meet someone who didn’t like Hana Kimi. Also there is a special.

Title: Hana Yori Dango

Synopsis: Makino Tsukushi is the only poor student at Eitoku Gakuen, the school of the ridiculously rich and privileged that is ruled by Flower 4 or F4, a group of four boys who come from extremely powerful families: Domyoji Tsukasa, the leader and heir of the Domyoji World Finance Group; Hanazawa Rui, the introverted son of a large company; Nishikado Sojiro, a player who is the heir of a tea ceremony school; and Mimasaka Akira, a madam killer with ties to the underground.
If a student gets on the F4’s bad side, he/she gets a red notice and is bullied and driven out of school.
Makino hopes to pass her days quietly— without drawing any attention to herself— but one day, she stands up to Domyoji in defense of her friend. The next day, Makino gets the dreaded red notice. Even though she is harassed, Makino decides to keep going to school because she is a “tough weed”. She declares war right back on the F4. Her resolve gets the attention of her crush Hanazawa Rui and oddly enough, rouses romantic feelings in her worst enemy, Domyoji Tsukasa.
DL Thoughts: One of my fav. dramas of all time. HYD is the shit. I really start loving jdramas after watching this one. Domyoji and Makino are one of my fav. drama couple of all time. Their love is so sweet. There is season 2 + movie. Must see!!!!

Title: Hotaru no Hikari

Synopsis: Hotaru works for a famous interior design company. It’s a glamorous job but Hotaru’s private life is totally the opposite of glamorous. She lives alone, and when she isn’t working she’s mostly lazing about her rented house in training wear. She’s not interested in men. In fact, she isn’t interested in anything. “I’d rather lay around than fool around,” is her motto.
Her landlord is a bar owner, and one day his son, who has just separated from his wife, comes to inspect the rental property, not knowing that someone is living there. He is shocked at the mess, but not as shocked as Hotaru. He turns out to be her boss, Takano.
DL Thoughts: I love this drama, its was enjoyable to watch. Overall story is simple but the characters are going to pull u in. The characters are lovable. Such cute and fun drama. Please do check it out.
There is season 2 but I have yet to complete watching it. At the time, subs weren’t out but they are out now (looking for time to watch it) Here is the link for Season 2.

Title: Ikemen Desu Ne

Synopsis: The remake of the korean drama, You’re Beautiful. The story revolved around a nun who pose as her twin brother and take his place in the boy band, leading to a complicated relationship between the group members.
DL Thoughts: How I love this drama. I didn’t had a high exception since its a remake but I stand corrected. I love Ren to bits. While the love story does take most of its plot from the original… the writers and actors still manage to give it fresh spin to the overall love story.

Title: Is ~ Otoko Demo Onna Demo Nai Sei~, IS

Synopsis: “IS” stands for “intersexual,” a term referring to people who cannot clearly be classified as male or female, and who may biologically possess characteristics of both sexes. Rokuhana’s manga primarily deals with the troubles faced by the young Hoshino Haru (played by Fukuda), an intersexual who was registered as a girl at birth but has been raised as a boy.
DL Thoughts: This drama is different from what I usually like watching. I wasn’t aware about IS when I started this drama. Every episode was worth watching not one dull moment. I wish this drama had more than 10 episode, its really a interesting story.

Title: Kimi Wa Petto

Synopsis: Smart, successful and good-looking Iwaya Sumire works for a big newspaper. However, her boss asks her to leave for being too “perfect” a woman. Feeling angry and dejected Iwaya returns home depressed, and most of all lonely.
However, when she finds an unconscious young man lying in a box out the front of her home and takes him in. He looks like a dog she used to own called Momo. She dubs him Momo and decides to “keep him as a pet.” It’s the start of an unexpected life together as they overcome obstacles and become quite attached to one another. But can love like this exist?
DL Thoughts: After watching this drama, I had a strong desire to have a pet XD. It’s a cute and light drama. It’s one of those interesting dramas that I would recommend to anyone to watch.

Title: Liar Game

Synopsis: Kanzaki Nao is an honest college student who receives a hundred million yen one day, along with a card saying she has been chosen to take part in the “Liar Game”. The next day, she receives notification that her opponent is her former teacher, Fujisawa Kazuo. She goes to him, seeking help, but ends up getting tricked into handing her money over. Desperate, she approaches the police for help, but they are unable to do anything. However, she is told of a mastermind swindler, Akiyama Shinichi, who is to be released from jail the next day. Desperate, she goes to him for help.
DL Thoughts: If u enjoy dramas that makes u think or enjoy a good mind game then this drama is for u, my friend. Also remember to check out the second season and movie.

Title: Majo no Jouken

Synopsis: Michi, a 26 year old high school math teacher, tentatively accepts her boyfriend’s proposal of marriage, uncertain of her love for him but feeling pressure from her father and society to do what is expected of her. Hikaru, a 17 year old boy frustrated by his home life with his single mother and having been expelled from many high schools for bad behavior, enters Michi’s class as a new transfer student.
As their relationship grows they realize that they both feel that they have lost themselves to the pressures of those around them, and it is this common bond that draws them dangerously close.
What follows is a heart-wrenching story of forbidden love where Michi must face society’s judgement for corrupting a minor, abandoning her fiance, and disappointing her parents and co-workers.
DL Thoughts: This drama went out all out on this forbidden relationship. If u can’t handle taboo issues like this one then this is not your drama.
The romance is touching. It does make you question what is right and what is wrong but after a while u don’t care anymore, and u start rooting for the main couple.

Title: Maou

Synopsis: This drama is a remake of the popular suspense drama The Devil that was aired in Korea last year. Ohno Satoshi will be playing the role of a two-faced lawyer, one of which is a kind hearted soul and the other who is plotting revenge, using his brilliant mind, on the person who killed his relative.
On the other hand, Ikuta Toma will play the double lead role of the man, who has become a detective due to his dark past, who is pursuing the mysterious series of murders and fighting against the devil (maou).
DL Thoughts: I haven’t seen the korean version so I can’t compare which one is better. However I really did enjoy this drama.
This drama will make you make want to root but at the same time not root for the anti-hero of this story. It’s compelling story that draws in law, justice and a dash of romance.

DL Thoughts: This is a fun and (scary…okay maybe i get scared easily) drama to watch. The pace is good and the characters are hoot. Bonus: few of the guest stars that appears in each episode u might recognize from other well known dramas.

Title: My Boss My Hero

Synopsis: Sakaki Makio, also known as “Tornado” is a tough 27-year-old high school drop-out. By academic standards, he’s pretty dumb. His father decides to force Makio to return to high school to receive his diploma and he asks an old friend who happens to be the principal of a nearby school to admit Makio. If Makio doesn’t graduate, the position of boss will be given to his younger brother, Mikio.
Furthermore, he must pose as a 17-year-old during school hours and in the presence of any classmates or teachers outside of school. If his cover is blown, it would be the end of his high school career as well as his hopes to become boss. Things start out rough and tough as Makio’s violent temper is tested. As the lessons and days go by he learns there is much more to school than just tests and studying.
DL Thoughts: This got to be one of the funniest drama I ever seen. It was pure laughter in almost every episode. Excellent acting by the main guy. This drama is perfect for those who wants to enjoy a simple and fun drama.

Title: Nobuta wo Produce

Synopsis: Kiritani Shuji is the popular guy who gets along with everyone, from the jerks to the nerds to the just plain weird. The one person Shuji cannot stand is Kusano Akira. To Shuji, Akira is just plain annoying. He laughs, talks and acts funny. Things heat up when a new student comes to school. Her name is Kotani Nobuko, a girl who has no self confidence at all and is content at being made fun of and bullied in school.
Shuji and Akira come to an accord that in order to make use of their youth they will produce Nobuko as the next popular girl. One of the conditions, however, is that nobody should find out that they are working together as a team to make this concept possible. Unveiled here is the story of true friendship between three unlikely candidates who would not have been friends if not given the special circumstances.
DL Thoughts: It was one of the best school dramas I ever watch. The characters, the plot, the great friendship. This drama really did hit home for me. It’s that rare school drama where the writers really understand what high school is like.

Things get more complicated when a powerful love/hate relationship develops between Ryo and Kanza’s little sister, the beautiful Yuko.
What exactly is their connection? As the evidence (and body count) rises, Kanza tries desperately to save his sister from Ryo’s influence. He’s no saint, but is he the Devil Kanza thinks he is? And why? The answers will floor you, even when you think you’ve got them figured out already.
DL Thoughts: I didn’t know who the cast were. So, with that in mind I will tell u this….You will not want to move from the screen… seriously, its very addicted with plenty of chemistry from main leads.

Accidentally breaking an antique vase, Haruhi ends up owing the club a vast amount of money, and she ends up posing as a host in order to repay her debt.
DL Thoughts: I love the anime to pieces so I was really excited about this drama. I am happy to report that it didn’t disappoint me one bit. It was awesome to watch as live action and I recommend anyone who is a fan of the anime to watch it.

One day, Aki’s friends who are determined to find her a new boyfriend, invite her to watch an ice hockey game. There she sees Halu for the first time….
DL Thoughts: You know a drama gotta be good if they can make simple word like maybe sound like its the coolest swoon worthy word you ever heard. Was totally crushing on Kimura in this drama. No wonder so many people like him. Pride is just so good. Watch it and fall in love with Kimura Halu.

DL Thoughts: This drama hit me right here in the heart. Till this day, I remember some of the scenes and lines in this drama like I just watch it yesterday. The reason why i love this drama is cause I can totally relate. I understand how hard it is to confess to someone… I love you is so hard hard hard hard to say especially when you mean it with every fiber of your being.

DL Thoughts: Maybe I am sucker for cute dramas but truly I did enjoy this drama. It had cute moments, real life moments, and funny moments. There was this one scene that kinda hit the heart never I have been so invested in a relationship about a boy and a robot girl.

He rushes to the scene but doesn’t have the guts to help, until another flashback transforms him into a samurai!
DL Thoughts: If you are looking for a fun and simple drama to watch then u may like this one. Miura Haruma is amazing, he is too funny as high schooler who is silly and then as serious samurai who always tries to make a move on Ai. Overall plot flows like gokusen style of writing so if u don’t like that then its not your drama.

Title: Stand Up!!

Synopsis: Four schoolboys find themselves the last virgins left at school. During the summer holidays, a girl they knew as children 11 years ago, moves back to the neighborhood. This story of summer - love, friendship, school, family, the hypocrisy of adults, complications of life, experience and failure is set in an everyday shopping district and shows the clumsiness of children who have developed a little later than their peers. It’s a bright romantic comedy that both young and old can appreciate.
DL Thoughts: One of the best coming of age drama. U really should watch this drama, its not only funny and cute but a great story that you can relate to. Bonus: all the cast are well known actors that you may love right now.

Title: Tatta Hitotsu no Koi

If you feel you have lost the purity of your soul by watching stories about womanizers seducing impudent women, or by carrying out calculated maneuvers in your own love life, here is a story for you. A boy and a girl from highly different social backgrounds meet and fall in love. Their love, of course, faces a lot of obstacles. The setting is in Yokohama, a modern port city known for its romantic atmosphere. Hiroto Kanzaki (Kazuya Kamenashi) works hard every day and night for the survival of a small ship repair factory (inherited from his father) as well as the survival of his mother and younger brother, who are suffering from health problems. Living such an underprivileged life, Hiroto has forgotten how to smile.
In contrast to him, Nao (Haruka Ayase) is the daughter of a popular jewelry shop owner in a fashionable street in Yokohama. She attends a prestigious exclusive women’s college and grew up cheerful and blessed with affluent love. From the moment Hiroto meets her, his closed mind slowly opens up to Nao, who is so innocent that she utters whatever she thinks. Their three close friends, who are also 20 year old’s, play an important role in their developing relationship.
DL Thoughts: This drama is so underrated but its one of the best romantic jdrama. The love story is like no other. It was beautiful and it fills your heart with warmth.

Title: Tokyo Dogs

Synopsis: Takakura So witnessed his father’s murder at a young age. Pledging to catch the killer, he grows up to become an elite cop in New York City, where the criminal lives. His character is cool-headed and disciplined, yet adapts well. Because of major drug dealings, he gets sent to Tokyo to conduct a joint investigation with the Japanese police.
There, he gets teamed up with, Kudo Maruo, a detective from a special investigative division. Kudo is a hot-blooded fighting expert due to his earlier days as a delinquent, but he makes a strong impression with his stylish appearance and is always interested in going on group dates. His personality, interests, and investigation methods are completely mismatched with Takakura’s, but the two somehow work together to crack the case they’ve been given.
DL Thoughts: I recommend this drama just cause its funny. Shun and Hiro are really funny in this drama. A whole new meaning to the phrase “fighting like cats and dogs”.

Title: Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge

DL Thoughts: I recommend to those who are looking for something fun and simple. I like the friendship between the boys. My fav scene in this drama is the kiss scene so cute^^

DL Thoughts: I found this drama enjoyable, I wish they would have develop more on the romance but alas is not a romance centric drama but a comedy drama so if u are looking for something fun to watch then check this drama out.

DL Thoughts: This is the first robot love drama I have watch. At first I was like EHHHHH?? Robot love then I watch it and I laugh, and aww over the moments in the drama. It was enjoyable to watch so give it twirl. Also do not forget to watch the special. It continues the story.

DL Thoughts: This drama is like blockbuster movie. It’s action pack and with a dash of romance. I literally went home during lunch time in order to watch this drama then go back to school. Yep, I was obsessed. LOL

The person standing in front of her was the troublemaker of the school, infamously known for his devilish ways – Jiang Meng. The devil will get what he wants, and the object of his desire was Qi Yue. Although having a cruel exterior, Ah Meng’s heart is kind and caring, which truly touched Qi Yue.
The big problem remains – Ah Meng is the son of the man Qi Yue’s mother is going to marry. Even though they were not related by blood, who will accept this step brother-sister relationship? What is to become of their relationship when other lovers come into the picture?
DL Thoughts: This drama is like one of the twdramas that everyone must watch. Great love story, this main couple is one of my fav. drama couple of all time. Their chemistry is just sizzling (really love their kiss scenes so hot! Some actors / actress of other dramas need to take note.) and like a good twdrama, there is a lot funny moments as well.

Synopsis: Shiang Yu Ping, a divorce and inheritance lawyer, is seen by others as cold, selfish, and ruthless. He had taken in his brother’s orphans and was in need of a nanny. Fed up, Yu Ping asks his secretary, Yang Duo, to find a nanny that meets his requirements. She recommends her younger sister, Yang Guo, for the job; assuring Yu Ping that her tomboyish sister will not fall in love with him by lying that she does not like men at all.
DL Thoughts: Ella and Jerry are so wow together, like I totally did not expect another twdrama couple that could hold up to the likes of Mike He and Rainie Yang chemistry. I stand corrected and I am happy that I am. The story is great, the chemistry is great, the characters are love. Not only is it a great love story but its funny too. It’s a shame that someone leak the whole drama thus affecting the ratings.

Title: Hi My Sweetheart

DL Thoughts: The best thing about this drama is the chemistry between rainie yang and show luo. The plot starts off great but I will admit that it gets a bit rush somewhere around in the middle but still it’s worth watching.

Title: Hua Yang Shao Nian Shao Nu aka Hana Kimi

Synopsis: After watching a high jump competition on TV, Lu Rui Xi was so inspired by a jumper named Zuo Yi Quan that she decides to transfer to his school, which happened to be an all-boys school; therefore, she disguises herself as a boy to get accepted.
At the school, Rui Xi befriends Jin Xiu Yi. One day during a friendly soccer match, Rui Xi is knocked unconscious by Xiu Yi. Quan carries her to the infirmary and realizes that Rui Xi is in fact a girl! However, Quan keeps her identity a secret. At the same time, Xiu Yi starts to question his own sexual orientation when he finds himself having feelings towards Rui Xi.
DL Thoughts: It’s the tw-ver of hana kimi. This drama is full of over the top funny moments. I would recommend that you give this drama a try.

Synopsis: On her 30th birthday, Cheng You Qing received an email on “the symptoms of premature aging” from Li Da Ren, her best friend of 14 years. Unable to accept that Li Da Ren is like a fine wine that will get better with age and she is like a grape that will dry into a raisin as years go by, she made a bet with Li to see who will get married first before they turn 35.
As she looked around for a potential husband, she discovered that she was surrounded by unacceptable candidates, like gay assistant or cheating ex-boyfriend. The only man who could love her despite her ill temper and stubbornness is her best friend. The only problem was that they both swore that they were not or will ever be romantically attracted to each other.
DL Thoughts: This drama really really makes you go thru a lot with this couple BUT its worth it in the end. I really like the couple, I swear that I can just rewatch them just talking about whatever. They are that beautiful together.

DL Thoughts: I think this drama is one of those good romance story. Though you may either love it or hate it. It depends how you take to the characters. In my opinion, its worth watching. There is season 2, so check that out too.

Synopsis: Han Qi Luo,an extremely shy art student went to the same college as Chen Ling,a popular play boy. By chance one day they met at a park when CL asked HQL for direction to a hospital to visit his friend who was injured in a bike racing incident. Hurriedly HQL drew him a map, unknowing that she was drawing on the back of one of her sketches.
She ran off before he could thank her. He then noticed the sketch of a mother holding a baby and was touched. In school HQL was sexually harrassed by a teacher and CL came to her rescue. They began to grow fond of each other but each of them had a secret past that needed to be addressed and overcome before they could accept and love one another freely.
DL Thoughts: This drama is not like your typical twdrama. This drama has some real and deep issues that is not suit for lighthearted BUT Its truly one of the best twdramas I ever watch. You should really give this one a try.

DL Thoughts: This the first adaption of popular HYD/BBF franchise. Because it air like over 10 years ago, the quality is bit low so if u can ignore that then you going to love this series as much as you did HYD/BBF. The chemistry is just hot! Also season 2 continues the story.^^

DL Thoughts: I remember the first time I watch this drama. I had so much fun watching it. I would spazz about it with my sis and what not. I think this was like the second or third twdrama I ever watch. Overall, I enjoy it, so maybe u will too.

DL Thoughts: If u are a fan of the anime then u will like it. It follows the anime and manga for most parts. I am totally hoping for a season 2. *Cross fingers*

DL Thoughts: This drama is one piece of work. I truly mean that with every fiber in my being. Talk about a drama that makes you laugh, aww and swear (a lot of that). You gonna take sides, and battle out with who is best for Xia Mo. Xia Mo is not your typical innocent and naive heroine. Bonus point for that. Also Xia Mo got hot chemistry with both guys. So u gonna love that.

As it so happens, Huo Yan, the compassionate manager Jia Di has secret crush on, is the lucky guy. But, tho’ the prince can exchange the coupon for Cinderella’s love, it doesn’t mean he will, especially when his devilish younger brother is determined to exchange his “Master/Angel” coupon for her servitude.
DL Thoughts: While it can’t live up to DBY awesomeness, it is a great drama to watch. The chemistry is still there and overall plot is worth watching.

Synopsis: It tells the story of 6 former high school friends who meet again in 2012. Moving back and forth between the ’90s and today, the story centers on the life of Sung Si Won, who idolizes boy band H.O.T., and her 5 high school friends.
DL Thoughts: This show is so much more than I ever thought it would be. The writing of this show is just great, every thing just flow right, no dragging, no useless filler episode, just great from the beginning to the end. I love the characters of this show, I feel like I connected with main cast and the supporting cast even love the goat or sheep sound. It’s more than just a love story, it also about friendship, and family.
What I really trying to say is that show made me feel higher than empire state and bring me to tears with simplest of scenes. It just a show got it right in all the right places…. it got me right in the feels.
